Llanos Mora López

Full Professor in the Department of Languages and Computer Science at the University of Málaga. PhD in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid.

She worked at CIEMAT from 1988 to 1990, with an FPI grant, in the Energy Resources division. From 1990 to 1992 she worked in the private sector. Since 1992 she has been a lecturer and researcher at the University of Málaga.

Her main research lines are data mining applied to the modelling of solar energy systems, the assessment and simulation of these systems, and the development of models for their use in urban energy sustainability. She has collaborated with researchers from different universities, including the University of Waikato (New Zealand), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the University of Salerno (Italy), De Montfort University (UK), the University of Alicante, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the University of the Republic (Uruguay) and the National University of Colombia. She has also developed extensive collaboration with a range of companies.

Among the projects she has worked on are the development of open-access tools to assess the photovoltaic potential of urban areas, the creation of an index to measure urban energy sustainability, the development of parameters for the characterisation and assessment of self-consumption photovoltaic systems, and the development of algorithms and models for the simulation and evaluation of renewable energy systems.

She has participated in more than 20 national and international research projects and has published more than 100 articles in high-impact international journals and conferences.

She continues to contribute to the implementation of photovoltaic self-consumption, especially in cities, given the responsibility of urban areas in the climate emergency, and helps create open-access tools to assess the renewable potential of territories from a social and ecological perspective. Her overarching goal is to help achieve a fair energy transition that places citizens at the centre and respects local territories.
