Manel Ferri is a mobility technician at the Climate Action technical office of Barcelona Provincial Council.
Manel Ferri (Barcelona, 1960) is a specialist in mobility. He comes from the field of sustainable mobility activism in NGOs and the trade union sector, where he was head of the Mobility Department of CCOO in Catalonia and Spain and director of the Mobility Reference Centre of the Trade Union Institute for Work, Environment and Health (ISTAS). Between 2004 and 2015, he co-founded the Association for the Promotion of Public Transport (PTP). In 1993 he was a member of the Board of Directors of AVANCAR, Spain’s first carsharing company. From 2015 to 2019 he was a member of the Board of Directors of TMB. He was also First Vice-President of the Ibero-American Association for Sustainable Urban Mobility (ASIMUS), a trustee of the Safe and Sustainable Mobility Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board of Fundación Renovables and the author of publications on sustainable mobility and studies on employment and sustainable mobility. He has also collaborated with the CONAMA Foundation.
Since 2016, he has worked as a mobility technician at the Climate Change Office of Barcelona Provincial Council, focusing on workplace travel plans (PDE) in municipalities. He has advised the Barcelona Provincial Council Mobility Committee on the drafting and implementation of its PDE. He has recently collaborated with the Workplace Mobility Office of Barcelona City Council to promote workplace travel plans for the City Council itself and for companies based in the city of Barcelona.
In 2016 he received the “European Talent in Mobility” award at the Paris Public Transport Exhibition, organised by GART and UITP.
He is the author of the book “Sustainable Mobility to Work: A Pending Challenge”, published in 2019.
He is also a columnist and speaker on sustainable and safe mobility.
