The current three vice-presidents, Llanos Mora, Juan Castro-Gil and Mariano Sidrach de Cardona, will continue to support his work.
With this decision, Fundación Renovables begins a new stage to address challenges such as the electrification of the economy, the deployment of storage and the acceleration of the energy transition.
Madrid, 25 November 2025.- The members of the Board of Trustees of Fundación Renovables unanimously agreed on 11 November to re-elect Fernando Ferrando as president of the organisation, beginning his fourth term. The aim is to give continuity to the Foundation’s work and strengthen the defence of a fair, accelerated and democratic energy transition.
The current three vice-presidents, Llanos Mota, Juan Castro-Gil and Mariano Sidrach de Cardona, will also continue in their roles, leading the Foundation’s different areas of work and supporting the staff and management team.
Fernando Ferrando has a long professional career linked to the energy sector. An industrial engineer and economist, he has held responsibilities in energy management bodies and public entities related to planning, regulation and innovation in energy and climate-change policies.
During his time at the head of Fundación Renovables, he has promoted benchmark reports, legislative proposals and citizen campaigns that place energy as a right and as a key tool for social and economic transformation.
With this renewal, Fundación Renovables begins a new stage in which it will continue working to accelerate Spain’s decarbonisation, promote an energy system based 100% on renewable energies, drive efficiency and electrification policies, combat energy poverty and strengthen the role of citizens as a central actor in the energy model.
Among the immediate challenges are the need to address planning aligned with climate goals, facilitate the orderly deployment of renewables and storage, promote a fair fiscal framework and move towards an electricity-market design consistent with the ecological transition.
