Madrid, 17 December 2025.- Fundación Renovables and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) have launched the second edition of the Domingo Jiménez Beltrán Award for the best master’s final project in UPCT’s Master’s Degree in Renewable Energies.

The award, worth 2,000 euros for first prize and 1,000 euros for second prize, is open to students who defended or will defend their master’s thesis between 7 January and 22 December 2025.

Applications may be submitted until 16 January 2026.

The award honours industrial engineer Domingo Jiménez Beltrán, the first director of the European Environment Agency and former president and founder of Fundación Renovables. Based in Águilas, Jiménez Beltrán passed away in February 2023.

In May 2022 he visited UPCT to sign an agreement with the Castillo de Chuecos Foundation, which he chaired, with the aim of promoting a Centre for Sustainability in Mediterranean Regions on the Chuecos de Arriba estate in Águilas.

Fundación Renovables, created in 2010, aims to raise society’s awareness of the need to change the energy model, with savings, efficiency and renewables as its basic principles.
